INDUSTRIOUS 15 MINUTES OF FAME: MEET ADELINA!
1) What (who) brought you to Industrious?
I had just moved here from Arizona and had been dying to get into a gym and meet some people. I had done CrossFit inconsistently and wanted to find a gym to call home, so that I would be more consistent with my attendance. I looked up CrossFit gyms on the web and found this gem. I think Zach will say that he told me about the gym, but I just don’t remember. 😉
2) What is the most significant change you have experienced since you have been here?
Since joining the gym I have learned to be proud of my muscles! I used to be so self-conscious about my “man shoulders”, as I used to call them, but now I love being known as a strong (or buff as my students say) woman. In addition to this, I have really enjoyed pushing myself both mentally and physically in workouts – it brings me back to my gymnastics day.
3) What is your favorite thing about Industrious?
I absolutely love that Industrious takes the time to focus on teaching the movements. No matter the level of the athlete, there is always something to improve. I know that when I get something down, I am doing it the right way. Not to mention, the continuous encouragement, high fives, and smiles keep you coming back for more.
4) What are your goals or aspirations for this year?
One goal is to balance my life! I have always been the person who does EVERYTHING and leave no time for myself. As a high school teacher, the CrossFit kiddos coach, and now a Dance Team coach, I have to find a way to balance my priorities so that Zach and my dog don’t feel forgotten. It seems silly, but sometimes we get overwhelmed by what we have to do that we forget what we want (and NEED) to do in order to stay sane.
I’d also like to link more than 3 muscle ups together.
5) Share one thing we do NOT know about you!
Yikes, I feel like I’m an open book.
I’m sharing a double. Zach and I went to high school together and I actually took him to a Sadie Hawkins dance when we were 16! I picked him up and everything. 10 years later, we FINALLY decided to start dating.
As an English teacher I love finding books that I can dive into, but I have a passion for all African-American literature. I try to find a way to incorporate it every year in my teaching because it is an important part of American Literature’s history.
